my francophile infatuation!

Who want's another francophile obsession? Who doesn't?!?!?

I am always on the hunt for the newest francophile book, blog or podcast. And while I have a decent collection already of the aforementioned books, blogs and podcast's, there is always room for more! Along my quest for all things quintessentially french, I thought I'd share some of my findings and favorites along the way!

So what is it with my love and fascination with France - for that matter, what is it with the french?

I am not quite sure how my preoccupation of adoring most things french came about. It could have something to do with thier (perceived) passion for life, living in that laissez-faire moment, while engaging all five senses! Is it my love of art and the beautiful masters of the french impressionists? Could it be the  intricate and aesthetically pleasing architecture that juts the french landscape from Paris to Provence? Is it the inordinate amount of well groomed, and statue speckled gardens? Perhaps it has something to do with the many bistro's, floral shops, pastry shops, bookstores, or corner coffee shop's that adorn the streets beckoning me to come in and sit & sip for an afternoon.  Maybe it's as simple as the ridiculously cool fashion & style of the Parisienne? Or - could it be that elusive je ne sais quoi the french women seem to exude - that albeit some American women have stereotyped and romanticized.  (Ahem, guilty!)  I think it's a combination of all of the above, but whatever it is - I love it and can't get enough of it!

If after reading all that and you still don't get the french thing, just hang on in there. Maybe the mad photography skills of the uber talented Carin Olsson can convey it via photography!!

Carin Olsson - photographer extraordinaire and creator of Paris in Four Months - is hands down my favorite photographer, and I feel, one of the most qualified to educate you on french passion's, french lifestyle, and Paris! No, she is not french, but she does call Paris her home, and she seems to have inherited and embraced that french je ne sais quoi

Over the last few years, I have watched with awe and amazement this talented photographer sky-rocket in her career. Olsson is crushing it in her field right now, her hard work and creative eye have landed her shooting with some of the most famous fashion houses in Paris (and the world), as well as collaborating with many iconic brands, bloggers, etc. Olsson's Instagram account reads like a fairytale, and her Flickr account is my constant source of inspiration!

Her work is utterly exquisite!

The caliber of her artistry cast a spell that keeps me under her and Paris's trance.  If Paris or France still isn't your thing I have to mention she travels many destinations like Italy, Stockholm, Spain, Australia, the US and you name it, she's been there or going there.  If this happens to be your first introduction to Paris in Four Months - you're welcome! You should go and follow, like, comment, and share as much as you can of her, but ultimately, just enjoy watching her work her magic!

Photo right's reserved to Carin Olsson, Paris in Four Months - no images in this post were taken by me (I'm not that good, yet).

And after all this beauty you still don't get it - you may consider a head examination. I'm just saying!

Feel free to share any of your francophile favorites with me, remember - I am always looking for more! ;)
